Elizabeth Schimel, an American media executive with close ties to China, serves as the President of Condé Nast China. She joined Conde Nast in October 2013. Elizabeth is responsible for magazine brands including Vogue, Self , Gentlemen’s Quarterly, Architectural Digest and Condé Nast Traveler, which are published under copyright cooperation agreements with various Chinese publishers, a form of collaboration commonly used in China.
Elizabeth Schimel has been at the forefront of digital and mobile media throughout her career. Prior to Conde Nast, she was the Chief Digital Officer at Meredith, where she built the digital business to be the largest in both the Women’s Lifestyle and Food verticals and was responsible for acquiring AllRecipes, ShopNation and DivineCaroline. Elizabeth also served as Chairman of the Board of Next Issue Media, a joint venture of Conde Nast, Hearst, Time Inc and Meredith.
Prior to her career in publishing Elizabeth served as a Vice President, Software and Services at Nokia and was responsible for the global mobile entertainment business. She also severed as Senior Vice President of Comcast Interactive Media where she oversaw multi-screen entertainment services, and as Vice President, Mobile Multimedia Services for AT&T – the largest cable and telecommunications operators in the Unites States, respectively. Prior to joining AT&T, Elizabeth was an executive at Bertelsmann Music Group where she led the digital media team.
Elizabeth holds a dual Masters degree from the Lauder Institute of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania – an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management and an MA in Asian Studies.
